The “Pure” Tesla Commercial

There has been a lot of hype surrounding the current Tesla commercial that just aired on NBC. But, while the commercial is sure to get some positive attention, there are a few issues about it that need to be addressed. Issues that call into question whether or not the marketing campaign was done with the best of intentions.

Tesla

The first thing to address is the styling of the commercial. The Tesla’s own ads have focused on a sleek, elegant, and modern design. There are a few areas of the commercial that could be characterized as gaudy, but none so far that is over the top.

The second thing to address is Tesla’s styling. While some might find the hairstyles to be a little weird, they would probably also agree that the stylist that was chosen to create the cars would have an eye for perfection. After all, there were only a few car brands in the 1970’s that didn’t make their own vintage style hair. Of course, the styling of the commercial was done by a celebrity, but with a notable stylist, there should be no doubt that this was done by a professional.

We’re going to talk about a third issue, but not necessarily a problem with the commercial, but perhaps a symbol of Musk’s fame. We’ve already mentioned that the styling was done by a celebrity. Also, with the theme of the commercial being Tesla, one would expect that the car’s appearance should match the commercials.

It would be completely incorrect to assume that the styling of the Tesla as featured in the commercial matches the “pure” car in the marketing campaigns of Tesla. Both the commercials are clearly different from each other. Musk did quite a bit of work with stylists to create the Tesla look, but that does not mean that it was done exactly the same way as the television commercial.

It doesn’t matter that the styling in the commercial isn’t exactly what we would expect to see on a car in real life. It is a fantastic and original marketing campaign for Tesla. While there are plenty of features in the commercials that give us a good idea of the looks of the actual car, we should still appreciate the fact that they are totally different. Tesla doesn’t need to be totally realistic.

Even though the commercials are very different, they work together as part of a marketing campaign. By allowing us to understand the feel of the car through its style, they hope to strike a chord with our audience. They hope to get us to think about their cars and to actually want one.

This might be a subject for another article, but you might be interested in how the customer service experience of Tesla compares to other car brands. It seems to be pretty good.
