Statkraft announces plans for 125.5 MW of UK solar parks

March 23 (Renewables Now) – Norwegian energy company Statkraft AS is developing three new solar projects in the UK with a combined capacity of 125.5 MWp.

Statkraft said it will be seeking planning approval for the schemes. Two of the new projects could be located in Cornwall, where land is being considered near White Cross (49.9 MWp) and Treviscoe (34.1 MWp), and one is proposed in Suffolk.

The latter will be known as the Greybarn solar energy farm and is planned to be built on land south of Tye Lane, near the Bramford substation. It will have a power generation capacity of 41.5 MWp and, possibly, a 55-MW battery energy storage facility.

Statkraft is also proposing to add batteries of 18 MW to each of the projects in Cornwall, at a separate site opposite the Indian Queens substation, where both projects will be hooked to the local grid.
